The lowdown on Mexico City

With the population of mankind exploding on our planet, a shortage of safe drinking water and sanitation is dooming millions to disease, premature death and degradation, and it threatens a social explosion of rich against poor.

By the year 2000, many countries will have half as much water as they had in 1975. Problems are particularly acute in the exploding megacities--those with more than 10 million residents--that increasingly dominate the landscape of the developing world. --Cincinnati Fax News
